FNQ Growers Gala Dinner Celebrates Farming Community and Industry Excellence
The FNQ Growers Annual Gala Dinner, held on Friday 5 September in Mareeba, was a great success, with more than 330 people coming together to celebrate the strength and resilience of the local farming community.
The evening focused on recognising the hard work, innovation, and achievements of those in the agricultural sector, while also raising vital funds for local charities.
A highlight of the night was the always-popular produce auction, which raised over $33,000 for the Mareeba Friends of the Hospital Foundation, the Black Cockatoo Foundation, and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
A big congratulations goes to Jason Salvetti, who was named the 2025 Charlie Nastasi Farmer of the Year – an award that celebrates leadership and innovation in the industry. Congratulations are extended to nominees Katie Hrkac and Martin Inderbitzin for their outstanding contributions to the FNQ farming community.
“It’s great to see such strong, young role models in our industry being recognised,” said Joe Moro, President of FNQ Growers.
FNQ Growers was also pleased to welcome the Queensland Minister for Primary Industries, the Hon. Tony Perrett, who attended the event and showed his support for regional agriculture.
In the lead-up to the gala, guests had the opportunity to join a pre-event bus tour, which visited two innovative local businesses – Berry North and Salvetti Farming. The tour was a great showcase of the forward-thinking approaches being taken right here in our region.
FNQ Growers extends its sincere thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to making the 2025 Gala Dinner such a memorable and successful event. The evening was a true celebration of connection, community, and the strength of our agricultural sector. We are especially grateful to our event sponsors and dedicated volunteers – your ongoing support is vital to the continued success of this important community event. Finally, a special shoutout to the FNQ Growers Committee and staff for all your help to make this the best event yet.
